This is indeed a generally informational and very attractive site. However, I thought I would point out that purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria, Lythrum virgatum) can not be legally sold or distributed in Iowa, as of 2001. The reason is that escaped plants are extremely invasive and reproductive in especially wetland areas, and they can wreak havoc on natural ecosystems. The myth of sterile cultivars is essentially that... a myth. You mention as much with the spreading from one side of the drive to the other. And even though it is nearly unenforceable, when you distribute this plant to others, you are in violation of state law. Thanks

This is one of the most beautiful web page I have found on the net.
