Moonshine yarrow is shorter than common yarrow, but still shares many of its traits, such as tolerating poor soil conditions. Unlike common yarrow, however, it is more susceptible to disease, wind damage, and heat. To protect the plant from wind damage, place it in a wind-protected area or stake it up. Regardless of such detractions, Moonshine yarrow has a graceful habit and is easy to grow. Combined with a less invasive nature than common yarrow, Moonshine yarrow's fernlike foliage and bright yellow flowers might be just what your Iowa garden needs.

Please note that the Zones listed above are USDA Hardiness Zones and are only given as a rough indication of whether a plant will grow and thrive in your area. Temperature variations and unusual weather conditions can affect plant survival. To assist plant survival during the winter, you may wish to place mulch over the areas in question or plant the flowers in an area away from walls or cement. Additionally, digging up bulbs and roots to overwinter indoors may be preferrable to keeping them in the ground.
