A hybrid between Buddleja davidii and Buddleja globosa, this yellowish orange shrub is less hardy than Buddleja davidii. Otherwise, it shares many of the same characteristics (fragrance, butterfly attractor, long flowering season). In Iowa, you will need to protect this species from cold by a good mulch since we are at the uppermost zone for the plant's survival. Despite the possibility of losing this plant from your garden, it is well worth the trouble to grow since the flower colors are uniquely different than the typical butterfly bush.

Please note that the Zones listed above are USDA Hardiness Zones and are only given as a rough indication of whether a plant will grow and thrive in your area. Temperature variations and unusual weather conditions can affect plant survival. To assist plant survival during the winter, you may wish to place mulch over the areas in question or plant the flowers in an area away from walls or cement. Additionally, digging up bulbs and roots to overwinter indoors may be preferrable to keeping them in the ground.
