Series of photographs showing the St. Mary Monastery of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Rock Island, Illinois during a Retreat Weekend from October 10-12, 2003. This picture depicts the front entrance of the monastery with the 3 bells in the foreground. The Benedictine sisters moved into St. Mary 2 years ago. Previously, they were located in Nauvoo, Illinois at a boarding school they founded in 1874. After closing the school, they built St. Mary on farmland. The woods surrounding the monastery will remain intact, although a walking trail is planned.
